Through and Through
One of my all time favorite worship leaders is Will Reagan. His songs can be so simple yet the words perforate deep in your core. This song, Through and Through, is so straightforward, yet it is authentic. Literally, this song has 24 words. The extraordinary thing about it, is you can change the key to almost anything and it can fit into any other song that you want to tag it into.
Some of my favorite songs to put it with are Set a Fire by United Pursuit, The Stand by Hillsong, and No Longer Slaves by Johnathan David. The best thing about putting it with No longer slaves is that it fits so flawlessly. In the song, there is a line that states “I find that I’m safe and warm in your loving arms.” I like to replace “your loving arms” with “my fathers arms.” Because then after singing that verse a few times you can start singing “I’m no longer a slave to fear, I am a child of God.” It fits so perfect.
I find that I’m safe and warm
In your loving arms
You see me, You know me, You love me
Through and through
And that is it! See, I told you it was super easy. Even though it’s effortless and clear, take some time to just pondering meditate on the words that are being sung. I don’t know about you but I love being able to say that I am safe and warm in His arms. The arms of my almighty father. No matter what is going on in my life, I don’t have to worry because the God of the universe is holding me in his mighty hands. It’s really incredible to just know that the God who created me, is the God who loves me so much.
His love for me is unconditional and relentless. He knows me. Everything about me, even the stuff I’d rather Him not know. He knows me down to the number of hairs on my head. Isn’t that something to rejoice about? It’s so awesome. So think about the words as you and your worship band sing them. Good luck learning!
