Open when you are feeling sad

WHAT TO PUT INSIDE ‘OPEN WHEN’ LETTERS: Part 6

We all get upset at times but sometimes sadness can be overwhelming. I cannot fathom a loved one being sad, like I can’t stand it. I’m a fixer, and the worst thing someone being sad, is most times they have good reason. Most times it’s something they have to sit and feel, which is hard for me to watch. You may not be able to take away sadness or grief, but maybe you can cheer them up with an open when letter.

Example Letter

Hey honey (Or is it hunny?)

Grief comes in many different forms, and sometimes at many different angles as well. For me, the hardest part of you being sad is that I can’t take it away, it’s just something that you have to sit and feel. I used to tell people to stop being sad, but don’t. Oftentimes we have to feel it to heal it. I promise to sit with you in your sadness. If you want silence, I’ll sit there. I won’t offer advice, I won’t try to uplift you, nor will I speak positive things… unless of course that’s what you want. I want to be here anyway that I am able, so please just tell me what I could do, right now, in this moment to help you.

Even though you’re sad, I want you to know that you mean the world to me. I’m thankful for the moments when you’ve sat with me in my hurts. Now it’s my turn.

Also Include:

    • An uplifting devotional
    • Old pictures of me from when you were little, or embarrassing photos of you to make him smile.
    • A QR code to a link to a funny video
    • Maybe add a song that cheers both of you up or something that reminds him about a happy memory.

And don’t forget memes
